Cofounders Nirdesh Dwa and Sujit Pathak Interview | Veda 2022 Recap and Mission for 2023
Dec 30, 2022
With what resolutions did you start Veda’s 2022?
Veda has always had the vision of transforming education through technology and making education accessible to all. To achieve this, we had made not one but many resolutions for 2022.
Although Veda was expanding through resellers, we wanted to have a tangible presence in cities other than Kathmandu. Thus, we established our next branch in Chitwan and served more than 50 clients there. Moreover, we also added five new reseller partners in different places of Nepal and expanded Veda further.
We have always believed that if our team is strong, our product will be better and that would lead to an increase in customer satisfaction. Hence, we had a resolution of building a stronger team. For which, we focused on hiring experienced and senior employees with high levels of knowledge, providing employee satisfaction, training, internal brainstorming sessions, and everything that would encourage our team members and increase our productivity.
We always wanted Veda to be the one stop solution for all the educational institutions. Since, automating schools is not limited to accounts, assignments, and billing– there is a lot of tedious work that needs to be done manually. Our goal is to automate most manual tasks, if not all. Thus, we introduced more features such as inventory management systems, payroll systems, and so on. That would help in reducing manual work and we hope to further improve those features in the near future as well.
What were the major achievements of Veda in the year 2022?
2022 was a turning point for Veda. We hosted big events successfully. We hosted “Reimagining Education” in Butwal at the Tiger Palace resort for our clients and the Dashain event “Festive weather get together” at Amrapali Banquet, Naxal for our team.
Moreover, we secured many awards in the year 2022 such as the National ICT Award 2022 (Private Sector), ICT Excellence Awards, CNIYEF Nepal StartUp Fest 2022, National Entrepreneurship World Cup 2022, and Highway to a 100 Unicorns by Microsoft For Startups award.
The highlight of all these achievements was one of our Co-founders being featured in the Forbes magazine’s '30 under 30 Asia' list of influential business leaders of 2022.
Furthermore, we also partnered in a lot of big events such as ICT Award, Orbit Engineering Expo, BCA cup, Revamp, and more. We also empowered schools to win the Digital Education Award, which was recently won by Gyanodaya Bal Batika School, the client of Veda since the last two years. Veda also expanded to countries other than Nepal in the past year, where we started to pilot Veda in Japan.
One major achievement out of the numerous achievements of Veda
Co-founder/Managing Director Mr. Sujit Pathak said, “one of the greatest achievement that I have felt is, even though we had so many hurdles in between the transformation in terms of cultural differences, difference in experiences, and difference in ideologies we could bring all of our team members on the same ground and managed to grow our team to be the best.”
Co-founder/CEO Mr. Nirdesh Dwa added, “for me the biggest achievement would be, in the times of economic crisis in the country we kept innovating and growing not just in terms of innovation but also in numbers, moreover we will keep continuing even though global recession could take over and a lot of companies might lay off.”
Getting our names on the “Forbes 30 under 30 Asia” is also a big achievement for the company as a whole in the year 2022.
What will Veda focus mainly on during the year 2023?
The major focus of Veda for the coming year will be towards data, to enhance informed decision making and efficiency of work through the use of Artificial Intelligence(AI) and Machine Learning(ML). Unless we make learning easier and accessible we cannot transform education. Thus, with the use of AI and ML, we hope to see that change coming in the next year.
Moreover, we have been prioritizing private schools in the past years due to the availability of resources with them, but from 2023 onwards we will be equally prioritizing government schools. Government schools have also been moving forward in the field of technology and digitization and to empower which, we will be more inclined towards government and municipal schools in the coming years. We are also focusing on growing our reach internationally in more than two countries which would also be a great achievement for Nepal.
What will Veda’s vision be for 2023?
CEO Mr. Dwa noted, “As every year passes, our vision becomes more broader and deeper. We are trying to add more value to every other feature of Veda and targeting all the emerging nations.” Adding to this, our Managing Director Mr. Pathak said, “we were only focused on our service until now, but from now in order to transform the educational ecosystem efficiently we will be collaborating with effective teams in the coming years.”
Despite the circumstances next year, we hope that all of us keep on growing, we hope for resilience and persistence in the coming years. We also pledge to support the country’s economy by launching Veda in countries abroad.
Education is getting better everyday and should grow much better in the coming years. We aspire to play a key role in terms of bettering the educational ecosystem. Lastly, we hope for resilience, growth, innovation, and motivation for the coming years ahead.
Happy New year!
